Send via Email, Soapbox, API improvements and Amazon S3

February 18th, 2007 — 9:24pm

Hi People,

Few changes today, we hope you’ll enjoy.

Upload video via email

Now, you can send and forward videos by email. You got an email from a friend, your family or even professional and you need to encode the attached video? Just forward it to us. You can put a title (optional) in the subject field. More, this is now more convenient to upload video via your mobile, it’s like MMS!

All you have to do is to choose an username in your account page and send the email to: your-choosen-name at upload.heywatch.com

Soapbox and Tetesaclaques.tv discover enabled

You surely know that Microsoft has just released its public Beta of Soapbox, its online video service. Hey!Watch already handles it! We also did the same for the more and more popular canadian show Tetesaclaques.tv.

API improvements

Developers can now override global options like FTP or ping after encode for each job they create through the API. See the updated doc on the wiki.

Automatic encode available for all uploading ways

When you upload from your disk, the video will be encoded automatically if you enable the automatic encode option. From now, whatever the way you transfer a video, it can be automatically converted.

Store with Amazon S3

Your encoded videos can now be directly sent to your S3 storage space. Set this option in your account page (Developer tab).

Encoded videos sent to your FTP, Torrent podcast available

February 12th, 2007 — 7:31am

Hey people,

When a job is done, you can now receive directly and automatically the new encoded video to your FTP. You can set your FTP host in your account page.

Another stuff, the torrent podcast (pink icon) to share and seed your videos without moving a finger. At the moment, Azureus can handle RSS via this plugin, but we don’t know for other clients.

Hi people,

Wanna share your favorite videos with your family, friends, colleagues or anybody else?

Do it right now with the new feat we’ve just added:

We seed the video until it’s deleted. Then be the seeder and spread the world!

See our FAQ if you have questions.

NB: Torrent is still experimental, do not hesitate to give us your feedback. To enjoy this new feat, you must use a bitTorent client supporting Webseeding protocol like Azureus or Bittornado clients. More details here.

Hi People,

We’ve set up a wiki to easily manage documentations, howtos and to share your tips.

What is hot today: “Business” offer has just been released with Full API, external upload, and higher encoding capacity.

From now, companies can really use Hey!Watch as a full integrated tool to develop their own project. Besides we propose a new way to upload (external upload): companies can transfer videos transparently from their site directly to Hey!Watch.
Go to your account page and click the new tab “Developer” to see all the new options. We also wrote an howto to integrate the external upload.

Hey!Watch on your mobile

January 13th, 2007 — 7:50pm

Hi people!

We’ve added stuffs to the mobile version. This is now possible to upload a video via your mobile dashboard. Also, you can subscribe to your HW podcast, if your mobile can handle it.

In fact, there are now two ways to authenticate when subscribe to your RSS: Basic auth HTTP (the old one) and auth via a private key (the default one).

Then, thanks to the new one, any podcast / RSS client can now support our RSS (a lot of people had problems with it).

And don’t forget that is the same address to access both Web and Mobile sites.

Hey!Watch goes public

January 10th, 2007 — 4:54pm

Thank you and congratulations to all!

Many thanks for the emails, feedbacks and suggests we received every days. Everybody enjoyed the service and to be honest, we are proud of that because we worked hard to create a full service easy to use.

So many people came to visit us and ask for an invite during the beta. We did not expect to see such an activity because of Christmas Holidays. So great!

But now the Beta has finished. Actually, we don’t want to stay in Beta forever ;)

Thus, we are pleased to show how you like using HW…

  • We already have addict Watchers who encode videos each day
  • You enjoy grabbing online videos.
  • You often launch night encoding sessions to get your videos ready for the morning.
  • You also plan to build your own services on top of HW and that’s really what we want by proposing the API.
  • We noticed that a lot of formats were created

… And what do you think about it:

  • High speed and high quality encoding process
  • For you, handling Hey!Watch is like stealing a candy from a baby
  • You think that Hey!Watch answers a growing need for video encoding

The beta test was really positive for us. We’ve added things and fixed many bugs thanks to you.

Here are the formats we added:

  • Zune
  • iRiver H3×0
  • iAudio X5
  • TiVo DVR
  • 3GPP2

New stuffs and fixed bugs

  • New offers with no more file size limit. (see below)

  • Add a ping function which notifies you by HTTP when an encode is done
  • Rename the title of an encoded video will rename the file name too
  • With a Watcher account, you can encode a video multiple times
  • Show specific error (if possible) when an encode failed
  • Fix file upload in safari
  • Add invoices page to track your payments (see below)

All has been said, you can now freely create an account and enjoy the service at http://heywatch.com . Don’t forget that we need you to constantly improve the service. So, keep sending your ideas, suggests and bugs via our forum .
