HeyWatch joins Google’s open source video project : WebM.

We are very proud to announce that HeyWatch is one of the first supporters of this great video project. The WebM project is dedicated to developing a high-quality, open video format for the web that is freely available to everyone.

By the way, we join many smart companies such as Mozilla, Opera, Google and more than forty other publishers, software and hardware vendors.

Here are the technical details: - Container File Format: WebM - Video Codec: VP8 - Audio Codec: Ogg Vorbis - Container DOCTYPE: webm - File Extension: .webm - Mime Type: video/x-webm

We are very excited because this new format will open the video market and contribute to set up great video standards for the future of the Web. Google makes a fantastic step forward by offering this a high-quality, royalty-free and open source video codec. And, at HeyWatch, we strongly want to be part of this technology trip.

We are currently working on the implementation and a Beta should be available very soon. Stay tuned.
